"There are a lot of great new kosher and pomegranate products out on the market right now," said Yoav Gilat, managing partner of Cannonball Wine & Spirits, representative for Rimon Winery. "According to Kosher Today, shoppers looking for kosher products have 102,000 to choose from, with 2,000 new items certified in the past 12 months. With that much competition, we take great pride in being named the best by KosherFest.”
The entries were judged on the basis of uniqueness, quality, taste, salability and retail price point. Rimon Winery 2005 Dessert Wine, along with the other KosherFest 2007 winners, will be on display in the KosherFest Winner’s Circle at the Cultural Food Expo New York, November 11-12 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City. (Cultural Food Expo New York is the new umbrella brand name for the food convention that brings together KosherFest, Expo Comida Latina, and All Asia Food.) More than 8,000 people are expected to attend this landmark food and beverage industry event.
The KosherFest 2007 judging panel consisted of a panel of food industry professionals, including Joseph Plueger, director of grocery at DPI-Midwest, Arlington Heights, IL; Marty Stein, account manager at Tree of Life, Albany, NY; Yakov Yarmove, corporate ethnic category manager at Super Val U, Melrose Park, IL; and Nancy Dumais, marketing manager at Hannaford Supermarkets, Scarborough, ME.
Rimon Winery is located in the Upper Galilee region of Israel. It sits on a basalt plateau nearly 3,000 feet above sea level, nestled in the heart of a thriving pomegranate orchard. The winery's owners and winemakers are father and son Gaby and Avi Nachmias, who specialize in cultivating pomegranate fruit and producing pure pomegranate wine of the highest quality. All Rimon Winery wines are made using traditional winemaking techniques to produce kosher wines made from 100% pure pomegranate that retain the flavors and healthful properties of the pomegranate fruit even after it has been fermented into wine. All Rimon Winery wines are produced at Rimon Winery's winemaking facility, which includes special pomegranate separation and pressing equipment, stainless steel fermentation tanks, and a barrel room where the wines are aged in classic French oak barrels.
Rimon Winery wines include: Rimon Winery Dessert Wine 500ml (SRP $38), dry wine 750ml (SRP $44), and a port style wine 750ml (SRP $48). For more information and to order Rimon wines, visit www.rimonwines.com.
