(Oct. 25-Nov. 14) — Bernstein's Philharmonic: A Centennial Festival

Join us in honoring our beloved former Music Director, Leonard Bernstein, in his 100th birthday year, and hear his very own orchestra perform his complete symphonic works. Conducted by Alan Gilbert and Leonard Slatkin

(Nov. 9, 11 & 14): "Bernstein and 'Don Quixote'" — Leonard Slatkin leads the Philharmonic in the finale of our Leonard Bernstein festival. Oscar winner Jeremy Irons is the speaker in Bernstein's powerful "Kaddish Symphony," evoking the Jewish prayer of mourning and encompassing paeans to God, a confrontation between man and God, and a plea for peace. Also on the program: Richard Strauss’s witty vignettes plunge us into the delightful flights of fancy of the bumbling knight-errant Don Quixote.

With Leonard Slatkin, conductor; Cynthia Phelps, viola; Carter Brey, cello; Jeremy Irons, speaker; Tamara Wilson, soprano; Concert Chorale of New York, James Bagwell, director; and Brooklyn Youth Chorus, Dianne Berkun Menaker, director.
