(Mar. 14, 21 & 28) — The Gershon D. Cohen Institute for Adult Jewish Learning of the Conservative Synagogue Adath Israel of Riverdale (CSAIR) presents a 3 session film discussion on Midrash and Movies beginning Monday, March 14th at 7:45 PM at Conservative Synagogue Adath Israel of Riverdale. Dr. Wendy Zierlier, Professor of Modern Jewish Literature and Feminist Studies at Hebrew Union College, will facilitate the discussion.

These sessions will link exciting texts from the Midrash (collections of Rabbinic Stories) to scenes from classic Hollywood films. With each film we will explore a central Jewish theme: Creation in the Image of God (“The Hunger Games”); God as Author (“Stranger than Fiction”); Leadership and Speech (“The King’s Speech”); and Birthright (“The Descendants”). Popcorn will be available.

Free and open to all
