R&R: Shabbat @ the JCC – February 4th – Tu B’shevat/Environmentalism

Make your Shabbat afternoon special and share in our community. Workshops, art, yoga, meditation, food, music, study sessions, film ("Bidder 70"), creative art projects, spa experiences, indoor & outdoor play. And it's all free!

Adult programs:

2pm — 

Schmooze on the News with Gia Pace 

Mind + Body Retreat with Seth Lieberman: Meditation Session 

Origami for All (until 4pm) 

Game Room (until 5pm, for everybody)

2:30 pm — 

Community Cinema: "Bidder 70" (Dir. Beth + George Gage, USA, 2013, 73 Minutes) Economics student Tim DeChristopher makes a startling bid to save 22,000 acres of Utah wilderness at the 2008 BLM Oil and Gas Lease Auction.

3 pm — 

What’s Jewish about the Environment? Enjoy learning about Judaism and the environment with Clal teaching fellow, Janet R. Kirchheimer. 

The Mind + Body Retreat Center with Seth Lieberman: Gentle Yoga 

Pickling Workshop with Shawn (for everybody, until 5pm) Homemade pickles were once the snack of choice for New Yorkers, with pickle carts on nearly every other corner. Though the carts may be gone, come and learn how easy it is to make this fermented, probiotic treat and enjoy homemade pickles whenever you want. 

Paul Wolf’s Nature Song Jam Session with Classic Tunes (for everybody)

4pm — 

Mind + Body Retreat with Seth Lieberman: Restorative Yoga 

How Will Climate Change Impact Us? What can we do as Jews and New Yorkers? Participate in a panel discussion with a climate scientist, community organizer, and an activist who went to Standing Rock in solidarity with the Native Americans protesting the Dakota Access Pipeline. 

Community Concert: Stony Brook Vocalists A Capella 

Shake Your Soul: Yoga with the Flow of Dance with Odelia Shargian (for everybody) Both a health and spiritual practice, it awakens your sense of joy, freedom, grace, strength, and vitality. Rediscover your instinct to move and dance with soul and passion!
