"Indecent," written by Pulitzer Prize-winner Paula Vogel and directed by Tony Award-winner Rebecca Taichman, is now playing at the Cort Theatre on Broadway. A story about the love and passion to create theatre, even in the most difficult of circumstances, "Indecent" is a celebration of Jewish history and culture. The play follows a troupe of actors, the cast of Sholem Asch’s "God of Vengeance," who risked their lives and careers against enormous challenges to perform a work in which they deeply believed, at a time when art, freedom and truth were on trial. It is a story told with compassion, honesty, but also with great theatricality and joyous songs and dances.

With beautiful klezmer music underscoring the play throughout, outstanding choreography by David Dorfman and a fabulous ensemble, the New York Times raves that "Indecent" is “superbly realized and remarkably powerful,” and The Forward says it is “an ecstatic onstage celebration and a deep, powerful love letter to theater at its most touching and romantic.”  "Indecent" received Tony Awards for Best Director and Best Lighting Design, and was nominated for Best Play.
